FIRST TEAM 2016-17: Having been denied promotion to the Combined Counties League for not meeting the facility requirements in 2014-15, the target last season was to finish in a promotion position once again, safe in the knowledge that by ground sharing with Cobham FC the facility requirements would this time be met. The target was achieved, with Balham finishing Runners Up in the SEIFL and so, at the second time of asking, promotion to the CCL was granted. Following pressure from the local council on Cobham to groundshare with a Ryman League club, Balham have moved again however for the 2016-17 campaign to the Wibbandune Stadium, home of Colliers Wood Utd, where we will be groundsharing for the next two seasons. Playing, at times, some scintillating football they scored 91 goals in 30 league games and had the best defensive record to boot. There were, once again, many outstanding contributions in a great squad effort, but it was brilliant centre back and very occasional CDM, Frank Charnock, who was voted Players’ Player of the Year. Many thanks go to all those involved in running the team, to the coaches, the match organisers and supporters and also to the Balham FC sponsors, Vestra Wealth, who provided very generous help and support.

YOUTH TEAM 2016-17: Balham’s sixth season in the SYL was another incredibly successful one. The squad, most of whom have come through the club’s age group system, played some excellent football to win the West Division and finish as overall SYL Runners Up. A successful side inevitably has many players in it who were consistently very good and that was very much the case with Balham. There were plenty of worthy candidates for Youth Team Players Player of the Year however inspirational captain, Jack Haire, who was exceptional throughout the season and also played regularly for the First team, was the deserving winner. A number of other players also featured for the Balham First team in the SEIFL. Many thanks go to all those involved in running the team, to the coaches, the match organisers and supporters and also to the Balham FC Youth team sponsors, 8ighty 2twenty, who provided very generous help and support.

PANTHERS TEAM 2016-17: In terms of performance it was another mixed season for Balham Panthers. As opposed to the previous campaign which started very well but tailed off towards the end, this time it started poorly but finished very well. The signs looking forward are encouraging though with good recruitment having taken place in the summer and pre season having started much earlier. The aim is to be more consistent from beginning to end and to push for promotion in 2016-17. The Panthers play in the Greater London Womens Football League Division 2 (South). During the season the squad trains on Wednesday nights at Kennington Park, Oval from 7.45pm and plays on Sunday afternoons at 2pm in South West London. If you are interested in joining and would like a trial please get in contact and join us at training to see if BPFC is the club for you.
